"When I was working on this piece, what came to mind was how much masking can drain us. By masking, for me, I mean hiding the fact that I had a traumatic childhood and concealing the harsher effects of my neurodivergence.
"When we remove that mask, it reveals a very tired, emaciated soul. But the mask is easy to put on because it takes on a life of its own. After a while, you don’t even realize you’re wearing it, and the mask is happy to carry you through society, pushing you to conform, regardless of the condition of your body and soul."
